The 11th Japan-Korea Joint Workshop on Algorithms and Computation July 19-20, 2008 Nishijin-Plaza, Kyushu University, Fukuoka, Japan OBJECTIVES The aim of this workshop is to provide a forum for researchers working on algorithms and the theory of computation, to promote the exchange of recent results, to foster new collaborations among researchers. Historically, the workshop was established for the purpose of collaboration of researchers of Japan and Korea; however, participation from any country is welcome. The workshop is organized in cooperation with the IEICE Information and Systems Society, Technical Committee on Theoretical Foundations of Computing (COMP), the Special Interest Group on Algorithms (SIGAL) of the Information Processing Society of Japan, and Graduate School of Information Science and Electrical Engineering (ISEE), Kyushu University. TOPICS INCLUDE - Automata, languages and computability - Algorithms (combinatorial/graph/geometric/randomized) - VLSI and parallel algorithms - Networks and distributed algorithms - Learning theory and data mining - Number theory and cryptography - Graph drawing and visualization - Computational logic - Combinatorics and optimization INVITED SPEAKERS Professor Howon Kim (Dept. of Computer Science and Engineering, PUSAN National University, KOREA) PROGRAM COMMITTEE Hwan-Gue Cho (Pusan National University, Korea) Satoshi Fujita (Chair, Hiroshima University, Japan) Takashi Horiyama (Saitama University, Japan) Satoru Iwata (Kyoto University, Japan) Hirotsugu Kakugawa (Osaka University, Japan) Yoshio Okamoto (Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan) Hirotaka Ono (Kyushu University, Japan) Jung-Heum Park (Catholic University of Korea, Korea) Toshinori Yamada (Saitama University, Japan) ORGANIZING COMMITTEE Yuichi Asahiro (Kyushu Sangyo University, Japan) Hwan-Gue Cho (Pusan National University, Korea) Satoshi Fujita (Chair, Hiroshima University, Japan) Eiji Miyano (Kyushu Institute of Technology, Japan) Hirotaka Ono (Kyushu University, Japan) Takeshi Tokuyama (Tohoku Univerisity, Japan) SUBMISSION OF PAPERS Authors are invited to submit extended abstracts of their papers (or the full paper itself) to http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=waac2008 containing a PDF file (A4, 4-8 pages) in the format as described in the sample LaTeX file available from http://tcslab.csce.kyushu-u.ac.jp/waac08/waac08.tex Deadline of the submission is May 23, 2008.
